Palliative Care House Call Program
Comprehensive care – when and where you need it most.
The Palliative Care Expansion of the Evelyn Gruss Lipper House Call Program was created to complement geriatrics home visits by providing supplemental, specialized support to homebound patients with serious illness. The expansion was made possible by a transformative gift from The EGL Charitable Foundation, directed by Evelyn Gruss Lipper, M.D., Clinical Associate Professor Emerita of Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine, and Daniella Lipper Coules, the Foundation’s Executive Director.
The program delivers comprehensive palliative care assessment and support during moments of crisis. Our palliative care experts mitigate increasing discomfort and various symptoms, offer empathetic guidance through times of transition and complex health care decisions, and provide supportive coping strategies through psychotherapeutic, humanistic, and spiritual methods.
Patients and Caregivers
Patients in New York City who are homebound and receive outpatient care from Weill Cornell Medicine are eligible for home visits, which are prioritized by need and scheduling constraints. For more information, please contact us by phone [212-746-7000] or email.
Medical Education
The Palliative Care House Call Program reimagines the scope and character of medical care, representing a future-facing model of medical education and facilitating deeply personal clinical encounters. Medical students, residents, and fellows are invited to join supervised home visits as part of elective rotations. Palliative care home visits are also integrated into Weill Cornell Medicine’s geriatrics and palliative medicine fellowship programs. For more information, please contact us by email.
