Dr. Walter Boot Appointed as Professor of Psychology in Medicine

Weill Cornell Medicine is thrilled to announce the appointment of Walter R. "Wally" Boot, PhD, as Professor of Psychology in Medicine within the Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine.

Dr. Boot was recruited from Florida State University, where he served as Professor of Psychology and Director of the Attention and Training Lab. He is a key collaborator within the Institute for Successful Longevity, and was elected as a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) and the American Psychological Association (APA). He has received numerous awards including the Best Interdisciplinary Research Award (Aging and Health Informatics Conference), Richard Kalish Innovative Publication Book Award (GSA), Earl Alluisi Award for Early Career Achievement (APA), Springer Early Career Achievement Award in Research on Adult Development and Aging (APA), APA Prize for Interdisciplinary Team Research, Jack A. Kraft Innovator Award (Human Factors and Ergonomics Society), University Teaching Award Nominations at both undergraduate and graduate levels at Florida State University.

In honor of Dr. Boot's appointment, the Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine will present a special Geriatric and Palliative Medicine Grand Rounds on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. Dr. Boot will present "Emerging Technology Solutions to Promote the Health and Wellbeing of Older Adults," exploring the latest advancements in technology designed to enhance the lives of our older adult population. A reception will follow the presentation to welcome Dr. Boot to our Division.
