About Us

The Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine, part of the Department of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College (WCMC) of Cornell University, was founded in 1997. Our division has experienced impressive and continuous growth since Drs. Ronald Adelman and Mark Lachs assumed its leadership in 1998, developing a rich array of clinical, educational and research programs promoting excellence in geriatrics and palliative medicine within the medical institution and community at large. Designated a National Center of Excellence by the John A. Hartford Foundation, our division's outstanding health practitioners and faculty are committed to enhancing the highest quality of care for adults of all ages. Our interdisciplinary team embraces a comprehensive approach to aging and palliative care, as reflected in our diverse areas of interest and research, including pain management, physician-patient communication, elder abuse and end-of-life care.
